Week of May 11th

untitledDear 4A Families,

I hope you all enjoyed the beautiful Mother’s Day Weekend and a belated Happy Mother’s Day to all of our wonderful 4th grade moms. If you did not receive your special card, please check your child’s filer!

untitledThis Friday we get to enjoy the talented students of Holy Rosary as they perform in our annual Talent Show! We are having an Olympic Theme day—4th grade is representing France. So, what does that mean as far as apparel? Well, the French flag is red, white and blue—so sports themed clothing of these colors is fine. Stripes? Berets? Not really sure. Be creative and have fun. I will make some French Olympic stickers the kids can wear if they like. Vive la France!

This Thursday we will have some special “teachers—students” from Seattle University to teach a lesson on Civil Rights to the class. I have seen their lesson plans and I am sure the students will be both engaged and inspired. Be sure to ask your child what he or she learned/did during the lesson.

bake saleRemember, our 4th Grade Charity Bake Sale takes place next Thursday May 21st. We are still in need of parent volunteers to assist with set-up, assistance and clean up any time from 10:00-1:00. Please email me if you can help out. Thank you!

Next Friday the 22nd is Field Day! 4A has chosen to wear the colors blue and white. Any combination of these colors is fine. Let’s hope for a rain-free day.

I am looking forward to seeing the Flat Stanley Journals on Monday.  The students will be doing some sharing in class as well as with the first graders later in the week.

Social Studies: The WA City test will take place on Tuesday the 12th. We will review in class on Monday. Students will have a list of the cities for the test.

Math: The students have caught on nicely to the first section of our decimal work. We will build on the lessons this week as we add, compare and order and do some problem solving with decimals.

Religion: Look for corrected Beatitude tests in your child’s filer. Our next unit will focus on the Fruits and Gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Mystery Book Reports: Keep working on this project! The due date is June 1st and the project plan sheet is due on the 18th. Let me know if you have any questions or I can help you in any way.

2Homework:

  • Spelling packets were passed out last Friday for Unit 22
  • Mystery book report due on June 1st. Project Plan sheet by the 18th.
