Week of May 18th

Dear 4A Families,

I hope you all had a nice weekend. The Talent Show last Friday was great fun—so much talent in our school—and in 4A! We have a busy and fun week ahead with some special events…

Please check your child’s filer for a special letter from me regarding summer practice opportunities and other important information. It will be stapled in half and will include several sheets. Look for blue/yellow sheets. Thank you.

bake saleOur 4th grade bake sale is this Thursday, May 21st. We are asking each family to provide some delicious treats that we can sell to the HR students at all of the lunches. Thank you for having your baked goods prepared and sent to school fresh and ready to sell Thursday morning. If you do make something that is specifically nut or gluten free, please mark it for us so we can place those items in a special place. If you are able to come in and help out we still need extra parent help. Set-up begins around 10:00 and we generally finish clean up by 1:00. Thank you all in advance for your delicious baked goods to come! The only homework Wednesday night will be to bake!

Field day at Hiawatha is this Friday. Students should dress for a day of activity and wear appropriate athletic shoes. Students should bring water bottles. We will pray for sun! Remember, this is also a half-day. 4A chose the colors of Blue and White.

Permission slips for field day were sent home last Thursday. Please check your child’s filer if you have not yet filled it out. Thank you.

untitledRecorder Homework: Pages 21 -23 Recorder Express Booklet (and everything up to those page!)  Page 21 is a worksheet and will be done in class next week on a separate sheet… (they are not to write in their books!)

Math: Look for math homework on Monday and Tuesday this week. We are wrapping up our current chapter and will be reviewing for the test, which will take place next Wednesday or Thursday.

Spelling: We will not have a spelling test this week due to field day. I will send home next week’s list later this week.

Reading and LA. The mystery report due date is fast approaching—June 1st. I am sending home the grading rubric I will use for the reports with the students on Monday. Let me know if you have any questions. I am looking forward to hearing the reports! In class we continue our reading of From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.

Have a great week everyone! Let the sun shine on Friday and enjoy the Memorial Day Weekend and the day off next Monday.
