Holy Week 2017

untitledZZ4719807ADear 4A Families,

Thank you all so much for my lovely birthday gifts, flowers and cards.  I am so blessed to work with such wonderful students and families!  It was a very special day.

Holy Week has arrived. Much of our focus this week will be related to Holy Week events and study. Tuesday we will have an All-School Mass. On Holy Thursday we have two events. In the morning the whole school will gather for our Lenten Outreach Prayer Service. We will bring over the items we have been collecting during Lent to be blessed before they are distributed to the various organizations that will receive them.

Thank you for sending in items for this collection by Thursday at the latest:

  1. Monetary donations for Uganda and the Rice Bowl
  2. Canned food for the Holy Rosary food bank collection
  3. For St. Vincent de Paul Society: socks, blankets, toiletries such as tooth paste, tooth brushes, deodorant, soap, etc.

On Thursday afternoon we will meet with our Faith Families to celebrate Holy Thursday together. On Friday at 11:00 we will gather in the church for The Stations of the Cross. We will be dismissing in silence following the Lenten Outreach, the Holy Thursday Faith Family event and the Stations of the Cross. We will also dismiss in silence at the end of the day.. Thank you for helping support this action of respect as you pick up your children. Perfect uniform is required on Tuesday and Friday this week.

In class we will be wrapping up our Beatitude work and focus on the events of Holy Week.

ZZ5EED2757All students should come to school on Monday with a draft of their personal quote ready to go. I send home a paper last week for the students to write their quotes, but if they do not have that paper they should just write it neatly on a piece of lined paper. I would like parents to sign this paper as well. Please help you child with spelling and wording as needed. We will be typing these in the computer lab on Monday. Thank you.

In class we will begin writing letters to our pen pals in Italy!  More to come on this.

Flat Stanley: Hopefully the students are remembering their Flat Stanley journals. At this point they should have one or two entries completed. Be sure that you have also read the directions carefully for specific expectations. These journal entries are expected to be high quality and show the student’s best writing and effort. Students should do rough drafts before they write in their journals.

I hope you all have a lovely Easter and spring break.
