Holy Week 2026

Dear 4A Families,

Holy Week has arrived. Much of our focus this week will be related to Holy Week events and study, and oral biographies.  To help with our planning, if you will be missing any days this week due to vacations and have not yet emailed me, please let us know.  Thank you!

Our religion focus this week will be Holy Week.  The students will be using their Bibles and other resources to better understand the important events of this week. We will review and reflect on the Stations of the Cross. We celebrate Holy Thursday with a special Faith Family prayer service remembering the Last Supper.  Good Friday is a “LOW Tech day” for the entire school.  We will be focusing on activities related to Good Friday and Holy Week as we prepare for Easter.  At 11:00 we will gather in the church for The Living Stations of the Cross. We will be dismissing in silence following both the Stations of the Cross Service, and at the end of the day. Thank you for helping support this action of respect as you pick up your children on Friday.  Perfect uniform is required on Wednesday and Friday this week. There is not a free dress for a dollar this week.  Thank you all for your generous donations over the last 5 weeks. .

Flat Stanley on Spring Break!

Planning journal entries and taking pictures during any outings that happen over the break should be on the agenda!  Students should take notes of the outings/pictures and maybe even collect brochures or ticket stubs that could be added to the journals later. They are welcome to start writing fully edited final drafts in their journals as well–but picture and note taking should be the priority for spring break.  Students will have the complete directions/expectations for the project in their filer on Monday and you can also access information extra journal sheets ideas for figurative language and great word choice using this link on the website.

Math: Fraction Action is happening in 4th grade. We are reviewing and practicing simplest form, equivalent fractions, comparing and ordering fractions, mixed numbers and improper fractions. We will be wrapping up this first fraction chapter this week with a test on Thursday. Look for review HW on Wednesday that will help students prepare/review for the test.

Spelling: There is no spelling test this week.  Spelling words for the week of April 13-17 will be sent home this Thursday.

Social Studies: Look for corrected River and Lake Tests in your child’s filer on Monday. The students did quite well.  Students will begin learning about the Oregon Trail this week.

Science: In lesson 3, students will delve further into the workings of the eye, exploring the function of  their iris and pupil. In the activity, Pupil Card, students add a smaller pupil to the eye model that they created in the previous lesson. Then they observe how the changing size of the pupil controls how much light enters the eye.

That should wrap things up this week.

Wishing you all a blessed Easter and lovely spring break.
