Week of February 6th

untitledDear 4A Families,

Catholic Schools Week was a wonderful celebration last week. Thank you to all of the drivers/chaperones that took the 4th graders around to deliver certificates. I have already seen a few certificates in local businesses. We have much to be thankful for.

ZZ68D681F4Last Monday each family received a BINGO Bash order form.  This is the teacher auction project and one of the biggest fund raisers for the auction.  This year the BINGO Bash is taking place on Friday, February 24th from 6-8 p.m.  We hope to have a full house! You can get extra forms in the office if you have misplaced yours.

ZZ68AE67D2Next Tuesday is Valentines Day, but the Valentine Boxes are due on Monday. Hopefully the students have been thinking about themes and ideas for their boxes—-maybe even thinking “outside of the box”. I can’t wait to see what the creative 4th grade students come up with.

We have a Mass this Thursday the 9th at 2:00pm. Join us if you are able. All students need to come in perfect uniform on Thursday.  Last call for our Uganda collection!  Mid tri reports will come home with your child this Friday.  Be sure to check filers for corrected papers on Monday and the mid tris on Friday.

ZZ79D5EFF8Lunches of Love:  On Monday the students will come home with a decorated bag as a reminder that each 4A family is asked to make at least one lunch of love during the month of February.  I will also be seeing home a hard copy of suggested items for the lunches.  Thank you so much.  Lunches can be turned in anytime this month.

Reading: Our story this week is about Sacagawea, which is a perfect tie in to our Social Studies unit on Lewis and Clark.

Spelling: There will be a spelling test on Friday for Unit 15. The SLE test will also take place this Friday the 10th.

ZZ5B392A0BReligion: Keep working on the Memorare. After wrapping up a couple of items on our Sacrament studies we will be moving to the Ten Commandments.

Math: We will have our chapter 5 test on Wednesday this week. Look for HW Monday and Tuesday that will prepare the students for the test. We will review in class as well. We will then move into long division along with some side trips into area, perimeter and measurement and geometry related to our Valentine boxes.

Social Studies: The students will be receiving a study sheet on Tuesday for a rivers and lakes of the United States test. There is an online practice site for this test on the 4A website under map skills called “River and Lake Review”. There is a PDF and a list of the lakes and rivers in the Map Skills tab. This test will take place Tuesday, February 28th. If the students visit the site for 5 minutes each night they will learn the locations quickly! There will be a word bank for this test. We are heading over the Rockies and then to Fort Clatsop with the Lewis and Clark expedition this week.

 Have a great week everyone.
