Week of November 10th

untitledDear 4A Families,

Happy Monday everyone. I hope you all enjoyed your weekend. This week will be a bit different as we have Tuesday off for Veterans Day and Thursday is our field trip to Pike Place Market.

ZZ25D801E7Pike Place Market! Thursday the 13th we will be heading off to wonderful Pike Place Market. Students are required to wear their uniforms to the Market and they should wear good shoes for walking. Students will need to bring a sack lunch to eat with a beverage, and they may bring up to $5.00 to spend at the Market, but no more please. If you signed up to drive/chaperone I have emailed you a note. If you did not get the email with the field trip information please let me know. There is no cost for this field trip, but there is a cost for parking. If you are not driving and would be able to send in 2-3 dollars to help with the parking costs we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

untitledPlease make every effort to also send in a donation or two—or three for the Pike Place Market Food Bank. You can bring donations to the classroom any day up to the 13th

2014-2015 Yearbook Order forms were sent home last week. Please check your child’s filer for a blue/cloud order form.

Spelling: You will find a hard copy of spelling lesson 8 in your child’s filer. There will be a test this Friday as usual.

Religion: Work continues on the Corporal Works of Mercy. This week the students will be bringing home an assignment to complete called Cool School News which is due on November 20th. These little posters should be written neatly and the picture should be colored nicely for display. The students will be sharing their Cool School News in class and should practice their talk. Students can read directly from their poster, or they can get a bit creative and speak as a News Reporter to talk about their subject.

Students will be tested on memorization of the Works of Mercy next Tuesday the 18th.

Reading: Look for a corrected quiz for chapters 1-5 in your child’s filer.

Math: We will be wrapping up chapter three this week with an assessment. We will review in class and the homework will also help the students review for this test. I have been so proud of the effort the students have been putting into fact memorization. The effort the students dedicate to this important skill will reap great rewards in math concepts to come! Keep up the great work—and regular practice.

Social Studies/LA: Don’t forget to review the Midwest States with your children this week. Most of our Social Studies work will be dedicated to Pike Place Market prep and follow-up as related to our Washington State history work.

untitledParent/Student/Teacher Conferences: If you have not yet signed up for your conference time, please do so ASAP.  I have attached the link page from the HR Website.  Just select the grade(s) of your child/children and sign up!  Let me know if you have any questions.  Thank you.

Have a wonderful week and enjoy Veterans Day.
