Week of May 4th

sunDear 4A Families,

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. The weather surely was beautiful! As mentioned in my email last week, there will not be a spelling test this week to give students more time to focus on finishing up and editing their Flat Journals. If you need any pictures printed on the color printer at school, just let me know—or if you have any other questions.

End of the Year Field Trip: Mark your calendars as we have scheduled our always fun trip to the Underground Tour and Alki Beach (birthplace of Seattle!) for Wednesday, June 10th. Permission slips were sent home last week and are due by this Wednesday the 6th.

Remember, our 4th Grade Bake Sale takes place on Thursday, May 21st. We are still in need of parent volunteers to assist with set-up, assistance and clean up any time from 10:00-1:00. Just email me if you are able to assist. Thank you!

stanleyI am looking forward to seeing the Flat Stanley projects that will be coming in Monday! Students will be selecting three sections to share with the class and before I collect them for grading. We will also be setting up a time to visit the first graders to share the journals as well.

Social Studies: Washington City Test: The test will take place next Tuesday May 12th. We will review in class one more time on Monday. Be sure to quiz your child tonight to make sure they are well prepared. They do get a word bank for this test.

Math: We will be moving into a study of decimals, which is a natural follow-up to our fraction chapter. Corrected Chapter 9 fraction tests will be in your child’s filer by Tuesday at the latest. Most math homework will be completed in class this week.

Religion: The Beatitude Test will take place this Wednesday. Students will have a study sheet in their filer (which is a chapter review test). The test will include a closed book section and an open note section.

2Mystery Book Reports/ Reading: Hopefully the students are well into their mystery books and have their project plan in mind. Plan sheets are due by May 18th, but may be turned in sooner.  Look for some corrected quizzes from reading last week.  We continue our fun mystery/adventure with The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.

Homework:

Have a wonderful week!
